Building a new home can be an overwhelming venture – which is why it is critical to work with a seasoned homebuilder with decades of experience and a knowledgeable team to guide the process from start to finish. Whether it’s offering guidance in locating the perfect homesite, walking through contract terms line by line, partnering clients with a lender and navigating through the construction loan process, or assisting with material selections the team at Carrington will take this potentially challenging process and make it comfortable and manageable. This is an exciting time in the lives of our homeowners and we will guide and celebrate with you along the way.
Site Selection & Engineering
The custom process begins with homesite selection. Clients can bring their own lot to the transaction while Carrington provides the development and engineering expertise – or clients can work with Carrington to find just the right site in western Loudoun County. Once the lot is acquired, we will use our trusted engineering and well and septic partners and contractors to ensure the land is ready for construction.
Choosing a Plan & Pricing
Building with Carrington means having access to our distinctive portfolio of floor plans, all of which are designed by James McDonald, northern Virginia’s leading custom home architect. These plans are innovative yet time-tested and can be fully customized to meet any purchasers’ needs. By starting the custom building process with the framework of one of our home designs, time and money are exponentially saved compared to starting with a blank slate. With dozens of plans from which to choose, including those with options for first floor owner’s suites and multi-generational main level suites and accessory homes, there is a plan to fit every lifestyle. The process continues by creating a wish list of options and upgrades, delivering pricing on these options, and working hand in hand with budget in mind to draft the exact home imagined. All plans go back to James McDonald for custom CAD drawings and adjustments as necessary.
Construction & Interior Selections
Once building permits are received, a pre-construction meeting is held and construction commences. We’ll lead through the process of interior selections – cabinets, countertops, flooring, lighting, plumbing – collaborating to design the home that represents each purchaser. We’ll use our long-standing relationships with subcontractors, trusted trade partners, and suppliers and craft each home to exceed expectations. We’ll keep our clients informed as to the status of their home along the way and if an inevitable hiccup arises, clients can rest assured that our experienced team has a breadth and depth of knowledge and problem-solving skills to navigate through any situation.
Delivery & Beyond
The moment we’ve all be waiting for. Once the home is ready, we’ll do a thorough walk-through with the clients to meticulously inspect and ensure the home has been completed to our standard of excellence. Each home is covered by a 1-year Carrington limited warranty as well as a 10-year structural warranty and Carrington’s Customer Service team will see that if any warranty issues arise they are resolved in a timely manner.
